March 2006 Guess the Fish Contest Answer & Winner
The blue shark ranges throughout the temperate and tropical waters of the world, being one of the most common of the oceanic sharks. Maturity occurs at 7-8 feet. Food taken includes mackerels, herrings, squids, and other sharks, also, flying fishes and anchovies. Sea birds resting on the surface are eaten as well as garbage thrown off ships. In other words they eat anything and everything. Although a voracious species, it puts up a poor fight on hook and line. This month's winner is Dean Stracuzza from Brooklyn, NY. |
