August 2005 Guess The Fish Contest Answer & Winner This month's fish is a Dusky Shark. Dusky sharks occur throughout the tropical and sub-tropical parts of the Atlantic, although it is not certain if this is the same species on both sides of the Atlantic.In this area the dusky ranges from Massachusetts to Brazil and throughout the Caribbean. The center of its abundance appears to be around Florida. although found in shallow water sometimes (Delaware Bay for one), it is largely an offshore coastal species. It apparently takes spring migrations to the north, and the young are produced over a long season throughout its range. Fishes are the staple part of its diet.
